What is Trichotillomania?

Trichotillomania is pronounced as trik-o-till-o-MAY-nee-uh which reared as the hair pulling disorders. Trichotillomania is a type of Traction Alopecia which occurs due to mental disorders. These mental disorders come under the Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders and involve recurrent, irresistible urges to pull hair from the scalp, eyebrows, eyelids, and other areas of the body, despite repeated attempts to stop or decrease hair pulling. Hair pulling may create patchy baldness and may lead to psychological effects later.

Trichotillomania may be mild sometimes and may be severe at the time. Mild Trichotillomania can be manageable and stopped with some counseling and treatments. Whereas Severe Trichotillomania is the condition of obsessive hair pulling which is irresistible. Trichotillomania is a kind of impulsive mental disorder which is uncontrollable. They are aware of the consequences of the diseases still they can’t control themselves. They began to pull their hairs out due to the high level of stress.
